Respiratory dysfunction has been recognized as a cause of morbidity and mortality in patients with Parkinson’s disease (PD) (1-3). Respiratory complications, in particular aspiration pneumonia, are the most common causes of death in these patients (1,2). A variety of respiratory problems such as aspiration pneumonia, respiratory dysrhythmias, which may or may not be associated with L-dopa therapy, chronic or recurrent airflow limitation, acute respiratory failure and lung infection, have been reported.
